The Demon’s Defeat was commissioned by and written for Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag as the closing work of the programme Myte – The Supernatural Underworld at Siddis Brass in 2024.
Stykket tematiserer kampen mellom det gode og det onde, og kan tolkes som et bilde på både indre og ytre demoner som må overvinnes. Musikken beveger seg fra mørke mot lys, med referanser til både Dies Irae-temaet og Night on Bald Mountain, før verket til slutt kulminerer i de gode kreftenes seier.
The Demon’s Defeat utfordrer hele ensemblet og egner seg godt som avslutningsnummer.

The piece explores the struggle between good and evil, and may be interpreted as a reflection of both inner and outer demons that must be overcome. The music moves from darkness towards light, incorporating references to both the Dies Irae theme and Night on Bald Mountain, before culminating in the triumph of the forces of good.
The Demon’s Defeat challenges the entire ensemble and works well as a concert finale.
