Hovedtemaet åpner som en lystig solo for piccolofløyte, som etterhvert flyttes rundt og varieres omkring i korpset. Dette kontrasteres med en storslått men truende B-del hvor tromboner, horn, euphonium og tuba får vist seg fra sine beste sider. En virtuos triomelodi lar altsax og trompeter få briljere.
Marsjen beskriver en tur rundt Lille Lungegårdsvann i Bergen hvor den fiktive Maximilian spaserer lystig omkring mens han nyter livet og morgensolen.

An amusing concert march with a lot of charm!
The main theme opens as a cheerful solo for piccolo flute, which is gradually moved around and varied through the band. This is contrasted with a magnificent yet threatening B-section where trombones, horns, euphonium and tuba gets th show off their best sides. A virtuoso trio melody allows alto sax and trumpets to shine.
The music describes a walk around Lille Lungegårdsvann in Bergen where the fictional Maximilian strolls merrily around while enjoying life and the morning sun.
