Initium was commissioned and written for Musikkorpset Gjallarhorn as part of their programme for Siddis 2025. The concert programme was inspired by Ottar Brox.
Initium means “beginning” or “start,” and the piece portrays Ottar’s first meeting with his wife — a moment marking the start of something new and life-changing.
The work was originally written for trombone soloist and brass band, but is also available in versions for cornet and euphonium.
